Funding boost strengthens Ruah’s frontline support for people in crisis

Ruah Community Services has been awarded $882,352 in crisis and emergency relief funding from the Cook Government, through Lotterywest, to expand vital frontline support for Western Australians experiencing hardship.

The grant was presented by Prevention of Family and Domestic Violence Minister Jessica Stojkovski and Perth MLA John Carey as part of the 16 Days in WA campaign, the Cook Government’s initiative to raise awareness and drive action to end family and domestic violence.

This funding will help Ruah provide practical, immediate support for people impacted by family and domestic violence, homelessness, and mental health challenges, including essentials such as food, emergency accommodation, tenancy support, clothing, bedding, toiletries, and transport.

Minister Jessica Stojkovski said:

This boost means Ruah can continue to be there for people at their most vulnerable – helping victim-survivors of family and domestic violence, people experiencing homelessness, and those in serious financial distress to stabilise and rebuild their lives.

“The Cook Government is dedicated to strengthening our frontline response for those in need as part of our commitment to building safe and inclusive communities.

Perth MLA John Carey added:

“Our government has consistently backed the work of Ruah, who play a critical role in supporting people across our community who are doing it tough.

This funding will help ensure no one has to face crisis alone, by providing immediate, practical assistance to people when they need it most.”

Ruah CEO Debra Zanella shared:

“This funding will enable Ruah to respond to immediate financial hardship and crises, providing vital support for people experiencing homelessness, family and domestic violence, or mental health challenges.

It allows us to address both urgent needs and the underlying causes of disadvantage, helping people regain stability and hope.”

This grant is part of the Cook Government’s 16 Days in WA campaign, reflecting a strong commitment to building safe, inclusive communities where all Western Australians can access support when they need it most.
