Pan Pacific Hotel
Lunch takes on a whole new meaning thanks to our partners at the Pan Pacific Hotel who host this tasty food truck in Perth CBD. The new social enterprise – Bobby’s BBQ Truck – creates training opportunities and raises funds to end homelessness – one bacon and egg roll at a time!
At the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, the hotel opened its doors and its heart to some of Perth’s most chronic rough-sleepers, keeping them safe and proving itself a ‘Hotel with Heart’.
Hotel General Manager, Rob Weeden, was very keen to continue that connection and to make an ongoing contribution to the work to end homelessness.
“We are so committed to supporting Ruah in the incredible work that they do for the homeless community in Perth. We will be donating 100% of the profits from every sale of a $5 bacon and egg roll in order to do this and we cannot be more excited,” said Rob.
Rob’s aspirations came to fruition when he received a call from Gary Dunkerley of Osborne Motor Bodies, who had heard Rob talk during a radio interview about the Hotel with Heart program, and wanted to donate a one-of-a-kind food truck to help support Pan Pacific Perth’s efforts.
“There are not many things we can’t build at the shop, but this was by far the most important project we have had. After being in the Special Forces back in the UK, I have known and mourned many friends that have been affected by homelessness, addiction and bad luck. I wanted to do something to help support the awesome work of the hotel and Ruah Community Services,” Gary explained.
Bobby’s BBQ Truck is now open daily from 6.30am to 9pm, at 207 Adelaide Terrace, with paying customers also able to pre-purchase bacon and egg rolls and hot coffee for those that cannot do so themselves with the ‘Pay it Forward’ program.
