Stronger Ground
Stronger Ground brings together all Ruah’s mental health psychosocial support services for people experiencing severe and persistent mental health challenges under one umbrella.
Support provided by our Stronger Ground team is trauma-informed and person-centred, and Ruah workers use a strengths-based approach to find out what the person they are supporting can do and what resources they have available to them when working out a recovery plan.
We currently provide Stronger Ground services across the Perth and Peel region, and in Geraldton.
Workers then help the people who use the program define their goals and work out a plan to achieve them; and provide emotional support to help build the person’s self-efficacy and confidence to empower them to keep working towards those goals.
Our professional staff will visit you at home or in another convenient location.
At Ruah we:
- work alongside people, supporting them to connect or reconnect in their homes and communities
- support people to develop a plan that is meaningful, and ultimately resurrects and maintains hope for a life away from services
- advocate for and with people, supporting their rights to live in safety, have good physical and emotional health and meaningful relationships
- listen to their story, to who they are, to what has brought them here, to what is important to them and where to from now
In developing your service plan with Ruah, your recovery support may include our help coordinating other services that are assisting you, planning strategies to stay safe, finding and keeping a job, assisting you to maintain your accommodation and supporting people who care for you.
Recreation is an important part of good health and an enjoyable life and Ruah provides a unique recreation service to improve the mental health and wellbeing of the people we support. We can help you get involved in community groups and activities and encourage you to participate in the social activities of your choice.
For other ways to participate in your local communities visit our recreation partners Befriend.
